Tudor FXD GMT “Zulu Time”

Tudor continues its collaboration with the French Navy with the introduction of the Pelagos FXD GMT “Zulu Time” model, reference 2542G247NU. This latest addition brings a new dimension to the robust Pelagos FXD platform, initially designed for specialized units of the French Navy. The GMT-equipped model meets the needs of Naval Aviation, enabling personnel to keep track of Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) – or “Zulu time” – as well as two other time zones, making it a critical tool for air and ground operations.

Specifications Built for Durability and Functionality

Housed in a satin-brushed grade 2 titanium case measuring 42mm in diameter, the Pelagos FXD GMT is both lightweight and resilient. The fixed strap bars, machined from a single titanium block, enhance durability, and the grade 5 titanium case back proudly displays the Aéronautique Navale (French Naval Aviation) logo along with the inscription “M.N.24” – a nod to the French Navy’s historical insignia.

This model is waterproof to 200 meters (660 feet), certified by METAS, ensuring functionality under pressure in real-world scenarios. A 24-hour bidirectional rotatable bezel crafted from titanium, featuring a black ceramic insert, provides additional utility, with its luminescent markings and orange GMT hand offering clear legibility in any light condition.

High-Performance Movement for Aviation Demands

The Pelagos FXD GMT is driven by Tudor’s Manufacture Calibre MT5652-U, a self-winding, COSC- and METAS-certified mechanical movement. The MT5652-U features a bidirectional rotor system, a 65-hour power reserve, and a variable inertia balance with a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, allowing precision and durability. The 24-hour “Zulu” GMT hand, displayed in bright orange, complements the local and third time zones displayed via the bezel, ensuring aviators and ground crew can instantly reference all critical time zones.

Military-Grade Dial and Strap Design

The black dial incorporates the iconic Snowflake hands, highly visible in low-light situations due to grade A Super-LumiNova material, delivering blue and green luminescent emissions. The strap, crafted in green polyester with titanium fittings, reflects the flight suits of French Naval Aviation personnel and pays homage to the handmade parachute elastic straps historically favored by the Navy. This single-piece strap, developed by the French manufacturer Julien Faure, ensures comfort and durability, completing the utilitarian design of this unique aviation watch.

Continuing a Legacy of Military-Grade Watches

Since the 1950s, Tudor has supplied the French Navy with watches engineered for extreme conditions. The launch of the Pelagos FXD GMT marks a new chapter in Tudor’s commitment to precision and durability, with design and functionality rooted in decades of field experience and military collaboration. Each piece is assembled and tested at Tudor’s advanced facility in Le Locle, Switzerland, a testament to the brand’s dedication to quality and innovation.
