Vacheron Constantin’s rich legacy, dating back to its establishment in 1755, has always been intertwined with a deep appreciation for art and culture. This year, the renowned Maison embarks on a groundbreaking partnership with Crafts on Peel Hong Kong, aiming to revitalize and innovate traditional crafts in the vibrant city.
The inaugural installment of this collaboration, titled “Time Imprints: Tracing Traditions,” kicks off at Tai Kwun, Hong Kong, marking the beginning of an ambitious cultural project. In alliance with Crafts on Peel, a charitable organization dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting Hong Kong’s traditional craftsmanship, Vacheron Constantin endeavors to breathe new life into fading local crafts.
“Time Imprints: Tracing Traditions” serves as a platform to foster creative dialogue and reimagine Hong Kong’s cultural heritage. Through a series of exhibitions and events, the project seeks to underscore the essence of craftsmanship and folk wisdom embedded in traditional crafts, inspiring both seasoned artisans and contemporary creators to exchange knowledge and push boundaries.
Master Liu Wing Sheung, a venerable casting craftsman, will showcase his mastery alongside Fanson Lam, a young sculptor, and Angel Hui, a contemporary painter. Their collaborative efforts reflect a blend of ancient Chinese traditions and modern interpretation, as they explore themes ranging from mythology to present-day Hong Kong.
Angel Hui’s vibrant artworks, inspired by Hong Kong’s urban landscape, seamlessly merge traditional Chinese embroidery techniques with contemporary materials, offering a fresh perspective on local culture.
In parallel, Vacheron Constantin unveils its Métiers d’Art Tribute to Explorer Naturalists collection, paying homage to the scientific voyages of the early 1830s. This limited edition series celebrates exploration, craftsmanship, and technological innovation, showcasing the Maison’s dedication to preserving heritage while embracing modernity.
Through these initiatives, Vacheron Constantin reaffirms its commitment to artistic and cultural preservation, bridging the past with the present to inspire future generations. Just as the Maison draws inspiration from its illustrious history to innovate for the contemporary era, the partnership with Crafts on Peel aims to rejuvenate traditional crafts for a new audience, ensuring their enduring legacy in Hong Kong’s cultural tapestry.
